MSP Activities

MSP scholars are expected to engage in the following social, service learning, professional development and cultural activities.  Please see below for more information.

Social Activities

MSP students are expected to attend two social activities: the annual Fall BBQ picnic in early September and the Winter Banquet in February.  There is also an annual graduation ceremony in mid-May, where MSP graduates and their families and friends are invited to attend.  In addition, each MSP co-hort of Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors within their given school are expected to meet on a regular basis under the direction of their assigned MSP Director(s).

Cultural Events

All MSP Scholars are required to attend at least one multicultural co-curricular event at KU per semester.  Students can can view the DEI calendar below to choose the event.  We accept any events hosted at KU that have a focus on one or more elements of multicultural identities, diversity, equity, & inclusion.  However, we strongly recommend attending an event organized and hosted by one of the KU Diversity & Equity offices including: the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Center for Sexuality and Gender Diversity, or the Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity.  After attending the event, please fill out this brief summary to verify your attendance.  Scholars can attend the events individually or with their MSP co-hort.

Service Learning and Professional Development

MSP students are expected to participate in at least one semester-long service learning project or activie participation and/or leadership in a KU associated student organization (e.g. Student Senate, Rock Chalk Central Student Organizations, etc).  In addition, MSP Directors will organize professional development workshops in which students are expected to participate as well in at least one per semester, or students can purse this on their own through events organized by the University Career Center such as the internship or job fair.
